We’ve all been there; you finally tear yourself away from your computer to go for that long promised run and the thought of untangling your headphone wires just puts you right off again; back to the screen it is then! Oh, no one else? Just me? Either way, you’ll have to admit that headphone wires and sport are hardly compatible, which is why it gives me great pleasure to announce that the new Jabra SPORT fix this problem by going wireless!
Designed specifically for iDevices, the Jabra SPORT headphones get rid of any tangling worries by simply eschewing wires altogether and opting for a Bluetooth link between the headphones and your iPhone. The looped design means that the earpieces fit snugly around your ear and won’t fall out during your workout. The box advertises ‘Rain, dust and shock protection: Military Standard’. I haven’t tested this out on any battlefields yet, but after a few weeks of intensive use, I can see no detriment to the quality of the headphones.
A nice touch is the category-first built-in FM radio that means that you can tune in to a local radio station via your earpiece; great for catching the local weather before heading out for a long run! It also comes with a free download of Endomondo Sports Tracker, a running application for smartphones with proprietary features designed specifically for the Jabra SPORT, including the ability to get quick and easy status updates on speed, distance and lap time simply by tapping the headset. This is so beneficial to the serious jogger (I would imagine), as you can get constant updates on your training status as well as showing you your running route on the GPS tracking feature. The app makes focusing on performance goals simple, giving verbal updates via your headset, so that you don’t need to look at a watch or other performance-tracking devices. It also allows users to visually see past running routes on their smartphone via a GPS tracking feature.
Jabra have also released a Jabra SPORT-CORDED device, which, yep, you guessed it, connects to your device with a cord and comes in at around $25 cheaper than the Jabra SPORT. It’s your choice guys, but don’t come crying to me when you trip over your wires and scrape your knees…!
