Back to the Future: Episode 1 for iPad

back to the future ipad app review
Unless you were born underground or have spent a considerable amount of time at sea, if you’re old enough to remember the 80’s, you will remember three things -Leg Warmers, A-Ha’s crazy sketch video for Take On Me…and Back to the Future. And as soon as this app boots up, you are instantly transported back in time with that all too familiar theme tune & staring down the barrel of Doc Brown’s time machine. There’s even a bit of Huey Lewis thrown in for good measure!

Episode 1 is the first of a 5 part series with an all new story that is sure to capture gamer’s imaginations, whether they’re longtime BTTF fans or new arrivals to franchise.

The game itself is a highly enjoyable click & point adventure that utilizes the touch screen technology of the iPad perfectly. There’s nothing too complex here, so it’s perfect for all ages. However parents of younger gamers should be cautious of a few curse words throughout. If I had to complain, it would be that Episode 1 doesn’t take long to complete & the ease of the game may get the goat of the more experienced players, but don’t distress, drawing from previous ‘Telltale’ games titles, we are sure to see the game’s next installments step it up a notch to include a few more complex puzzles.

Although the iPad version of the game seems to suffer slightly with some frame rate issues, all in all, it takes nothing away from what is thus far probably the best game on the iPad to date! And for true fans of BTTF, a game you’ll actually love.
