“Go ahead punk, make my day!” “Are you going to do something or just stand there and bleed?” “Hasta la vista, baby!” As you can tell from my favourite film quotes, my youth was spent watching my action fantasies lived out on screen; if your childhood was similar (well, we should have been friends!), or if you fancy yourself as a bit of a movie buff then you should have a peek at Movie Quotes Hangman.
Now, some people may not like Quentin Tarantino but no one really wishes him death (he saved John Travolta’s career for God’s sake!), so when you learn that he has been sentenced to death, you’ll want to do everything in your power to rescue him. So, get your movie memories into gear and prepare to save the ultimate ‘Reservoir Dog’ from swinging from the end of a noose!
The home screen of the app contains a collage of famous movie characters, from Marlon Brando’s ‘Don Corleone’ to ‘Keanu Reeves’s ‘Neo’; the whole app is in black and white which adds to the ‘film noir’ feel of the game. You are then given a keyboard and a set of spaces for letters, (_ _ _ _ _) which you can fill by guessing the letters. Let’s face it, we all know how to play hangman; the great thing about this app is that it has over 1,000 quotes for you to play with, so it’s going to be a long time before you get bored. If you want to test it out before you buy, go for the lite version, which only has just over 100 quotes but won’t cost you a penny.
What I really like about the game is the ability to use ‘Joker’ cards; if you have one clue that you simply can’t get, play your Joker card and you are instantly presented with another movie title to guess; this comes in handy when you’re stuck on a really tricky one!
Summary
For a very simple game, this app is incredibly addictive; everyone fancies themselves as a bit of a movie expert and it is so satisfying to get the right quote; plus, you get the chance to save Tarantino’s life, which is great as I hear that he is working on a new Western with Leonardo Di Caprio and Samuel L. Jackson…he can’t hang before that’s released!
Pros
- The black and white backdrop is pretty cool, especially Tarantino’s huge, terrified white eyes that go black if you get one too many wrong answers.
- With 50 rounds to get through in the full game, it’s not an easy winner so it keeps you hooked!
Room For Improvement
I’d like to see a little more detail on Tarantino’s face…although a lawsuit from Hollywood’s most notorious bad boy would not be fun.
great game, quotes are never the same, you can choose level, I play it almost every day and never get bored.
It worth the money 🙂
A new twist on the classic game, being a massive movie fan myself, this is very appealing 🙂 Would be cool if there were different directors/actors that you could attempt to save.
Yes, I’d love to try and save Carmen Electra from the noose. (For her acting abilities, of course..)
