Rim just can’t seem to catch a break lately. It’s hemorrhaging market share, has had service trouble lately and its foray into the tablet market has almost completely failed. Adding to this bad couple of months is news today from the NOAA. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association is dropping the ol’ Blackberry from its official supported device list and is adding, you guessed it, the IPhone. Both the IPhone and IPad to be exact, and this is a sign of a bigger trend of pilots and captains using IPads to navigate. Interestingly, the memo noting the change specifically states “running IOS5 or later.” Either way, its starting to look more and more like Rim is down for the count.
