Firstly, the name of this app Elicity, is a strong, creative and unique name, which already makes it stand out from the rest. It provides users with a new and unique way to explore YouTube by creating word clouds that match your search criteria. All words relating to your search are presented in a creative and colourful way, using a range of font sizes. These can be customised to suit your personal taste, which is a great feature of the app. Larger fonts seem to reflect the most obvious key words and anything remotely related to your search topic. For example, a search for Whitney Houston presented a word cloud consisting of many relevant key words including, ‘RIP’,’ I will always love you’ and ‘Bodyguard’ amongst others that users can then zoom into to further select their preference. Video matches are presented for each word cloud and these can be viewed at any time. These can all be shared via social networking sites, Facebook, Twitter and email, enabling users to instantly share their findings. The app does the hard work for you by generating these creative word clouds, relieving users from scrolling through a range of video matches. Being a word addict, I honestly couldn’t think of a negative here but I’ll be waiting for future updates to see how any improvements will be implemented.
