They say that the grass is always greener on the other side and in the case of my artistic talents, this is undoubtedly true; I’ve always been able to throw a few fancy sentences together and demonstrate the use of polysyllabic lexis with aplomb, but when it comes to drawing, I struggle to scribble a decent image of a stick man. However, Comics Head assures me that I don’t need to be an artist to enjoy their funky little app that allows people to self-publish their own storyboards, comics and photo journals.
The app itself is well laid out and simple enough to navigate; you can use it to create pretty much any content that involves drawing, including business presentation or art. The app’s templates allow you to work in a variety of formats, including basic cartoon, which you can see in the picture below, to a more ‘presentation-style’ text and image layout.
You can tweak the colours and textures of the pictures as well as adding speech bubbles to the images (this is where my writing skills flourish!), and you can utilise the inbuilt art assets to make your pictures sparkle.
Summary
This is a very fun app that is particularly versatile in the sense that it can be used to present a variety of comics, images and presentations; if I can use it, anyone can!
Pros
- The layout is clean, crisp and simple.
- I like the fact that you can share your creations on social media platforms as soon as they are finished (not that I would do this with my own…)
Room For Improvement
An iPhone version would be cool, although the screen might be a little too snug for the images.
Any app that can make my drawings recognisable is worth a try!
Looks awesome!
Looks like a fun app to play around with if you’re interested in making your own comics but need a starting point!
