Photo albums are like visual diaries that we can leaf through every time that we need a boost of happiness from a pleasant memory; it’s for this reason that I was so excited to hear that Photo Album 2 was going to be released as an updated app for the Mac, as it means that I can check out all of my favourite snaps whenever and wherever I feel like it.

The app is very stylishly set out and you can choose from a selection of album themes that will represent your photos in beautiful settings; the app comes with a few themes already preset, but you can always download more themes from the Theme Shop, which you can try for free before purchasing.

What I love about the app is that you can easily rotate and change the size of your photographs, applying filters like “Black/White”, “Sepia”, and “Posterize”; so, if you’ve got a nice snap that you want to alter then you can tweak and turn it until it is the perfect shot. Once you’ve got the perfect shot, you can publish your photos online on albm.com to share them with your friends, who will be able to access them with a Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android or Windows Phone. The new verision of the app includes 300-page hosting on albm.com.

Fiddle away until it's perfect!

You can also use your photos stored on Picasa or Flickr services, which is another cool function, allowing you to work with them as if they were stored in your local library.

Summary

This is a really useful app and one that you can get a long life out of; its versatility and smooth layout ensure that it will become a mainstay on your Mac home screen.

Pros

Room For Improvement

I’m a sucker for exciting filters, so I’d be happy to see more of them uploaded to the app.
