Chain of Thought iPhone App Review

As most of our regular readers and followers will know, I do love a word game and this Chain of Thought app is currently my new favourite!

Pros: Chain of thought is an easy to learn and addictive word game that allows users to connect words into a word chain. Words are linked as either common two word phrases or word compounds. Users simply need to tap on the correct word in the word pool to link into their chain. The app has a simple yet fun and interactive layout and contains some added sound effects during game play. A crashing thunder sound is presented when an incorrect word is selected, which for me and my competitive edge, made me more determined to continue playing to achieve a word chain without hearing this sound of failure! There are 50 free games presented, which are ample to get through, as well as further in-app purchases. There are three game play modes, including single player, pass ‘n’ play and online play. There is also and achievements and leadership board for those even more competitive than me. There are also two levels of helpful hints, which won’t simply give you the missing word but will provide you with a hint related to the required word. Chain of thought is a great time filling game, very addictive and provides a new type and style of game for word game fans.

Cons: The only drawback is that very few connecting words are not so obvious, leaving users wondering how they connect with one another.

  1. I wonder how this game translates between say, people from the UK and the US? There may be words that don’t have an obvious connection to some people. But i guess you could question that with most word games.

  2. There were only a few instances where I didn’t quite get the word link but generally the app is universal. It’s a great idea for a word game.
