Burrito Bison iPhone App Review

When I saw that Burrito Bison was making its way onto the App Store I must admit, I actually squealed.

I’ve spent many an hour at my PC playing this game on Kongregate and now that it is finally available on iOS I’m reliving my Gummie Bear-squashing days all over again.

Burrito Bison is one of those games that you either get or you don’t. There’s not a massive amount to it, but it’s always the simple ones that keep you coming back.

You play the Bison, and the aim of the game is to fling yourself into the air and attempt to get your wallet back from the evil bears that stole it from you whilst you were minding your own business doing a spot of shopping.

For some reason you end up in a wrestling ring, but you’re intent on getting that wallet back. So you fling yourself out the ring and chase after the bears right? Damn right.

Every time you bounce off a bear, you get a money, which helps you level up certain aspects of the game, making for higher jumps, greater speed, and more chance of running into a special bear.

There are a number of special bears that you can encounter, including ones carrying bombs that shoot you further into the air, ones on pogo stick that you can steal for yourself, and there’s even one carrying a large chilli to help you body slam those Gummies to bits.

This odd, cartoonish game has all the makings of a popular, addictive timesink. Its ‘just one more go’ style gameplay will have pocket gamers across the globe missing train stops, forgetting to eat lunch and bumping into lap posts as they can’t bear to peel their eyes of the fast paced action taking place on their iOS device.

Pros:

  • Addictive, pick-up-and-play gameplay
  • An abundance to things to level up
  • Fun and humorous graphics
  • Simple to play

Cons:

Not really a fault with this game, but it would of been awesome if the developers combined some of the extra features in Burrito Bison 2 in this one. Lets hope they bring that out on the App Store very soon!
