The new iPad is finally official! First new feature is the one we had confirmed yesterday, the retina display. This new iPad runs at a resolution of 2048×1536 that is over a million more pixels than a full HD 1080p display and on a 9.7-ince display that is sure to look amazing. It isn’t all resolution either, as this new display promises 40% better color saturation.

Processor:

Next is it’s custom A5X processor which is quad-core and is said to be twice as powerful as it’s nearest Android quad-core competitor the Tegra-3. Expect better than PS3 quality graphics in future IOS games, all in a t’s 9.4mm thin, package weighing 1.4lbs.

Camera:

The new iPads camera is leaps and bounds better than it’s predecessor. it features 5-megapixel backside illuminated sensor on the back, 5-element lens, IR filter, and ISP built into the A5X chip.  It also supports native 1080p video capture, which is sure to look great on the new retina display!

Voice:

Not quite full Siri integration, but it does feature voice integration. Simple hit the new Siri inspired button on the keyboard and you can speak to text in any input field!

4G LTE:

Full 4G LTE support on both Verizon and AT&T in the US! This means data speeds up to ten times faster in supported areas. Given that higher resolution display, you’ll need those higher speeds to stream full HD content!

Battery Life:

Those worried that the inclusion of a higher quality display and 4G can put their fears to rest. The new iPad promises the same 10-hours as the iPad 2, and an even better 9.5 hours on 4G compared to the iPad 2 on 3G.

Price, Availability:

The new iPad will be priced the same as its predecessor, with the wifi models coming in 16, 32 and 65 GB configurations ar $499, $599 and $699 respectively. If you want 4G, the prices go up to $629, $729 and $829. All of them available March 16th!

iWork:

Apple’s productivity apps have all been updated to support the new iPad as well as with a few new features in their own right. They are available for $9.99 an app, but if you bought them already the update is free!

Other App Updates:

Almost all of Apples apps are also receiving an update, including the overhauled iMovie above and some fun new features being added to Garage Band!

Big thanks to Engadget for the images!
