What makes a great movie character? For Marvel fans, it is probably a mix of awesome superpowers and characters that you can relate to. Others love an all-action hero such as The Rock that never gives up and always saves the day. Sports fans often enjoy a movie where the main character struggles against adversity to become a victorious champion like Rocky. The James Bond character has a bit of everything; luck with the ladies, fast cars, always defeats the enemy, and he is even talented in the casino!

Here are some of the best movie characters who could more than hold their own at the casino table:

James Bond

In between killing villains and wooing half of the world’s most attractive ladies, James Bond had the time to perfect his casino playing skills, as demonstrated in Casino Royale, Dr No, Diamonds are Forever, Golden Eye, and Thunderball. Regardless of the decade or the actor playing Bond, casino games are a consistent feature throughout the years. If you always fancied following in 007’s shoes then a good way to get started with games like roulette is by playing online via sites such as live roulette with Paddy Power. There are several different themed roulette games you can choose from, some even with live dealer technology – so you can feel like you’re really sat behind the felts! Throw on a sequin dress or a tuxedo, and you’re ready to go.

Charlie Babbitt and Raymond (Rain Man)

Tom Cruise starred as Charlie Babbitt alongside Dustin Hoffman in the Rain Man, which was a huge box office hit. Whilst Cruise’s character is initially perceived to be an angry and selfish guy, as the movie progresses Charlie becomes less obsessed with money and more concerned with doing the right thing. Raymond’s mental calculation ability makes them a force to be reckoned with at the casino, where they win big before being asked to leave. Hoffman won a Golden Globe for Best Actor for his role as Raymond.

Mike McDermott (Rounders)

This character is played by Matt Damon before he became a well-known movie star. The title of the film Rounders refers to the name given to poker players who go from one city to the next to play high roller stakes. Mike is a young law student who tries to stay away from underground poker, but ends up winning big and decides to quit law school and head to Las Vegas to play in the World Series of Poker.

Danny Ocean (Ocean’s Eleven)

This one is a bit different because, rather than the plot being around skilled, or lucky gamblers, it is all about pulling off a huge casino heist. The 2001 film is a remake of the 1960 film of the same name. Matt Damon features in this one too, along with George Clooney (Danny Ocean), Andy Garcia, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts. The group plans an audacious robbery of three Las Vegas casinos. The planning that goes into this heist is sensational and the movie is really worth a watch if you have never seen it.

These characters all bossed the casinos in one way or another, and there are some great films here if you are looking for something to watch!
