For all Apple fanatics and iPhone lovers, the wait is finally over and the iPhone 4S is now readily available! Did you queue up for hours, upgrade your handset or pateintly await for the histeria to die down? Or like me, order one and have them deliver it to your door! Whatever your story was to get your hands on this incredible iPhone, the new features are totally worth it!
Siri
Siri is the fantastic voice control feature, which is only available on the iPhone 4S. Users can access Siri to give instructions to set reminders, alarms, send messages, play songs, search for information and more. Siri can also email and read incoming messages to its user. Since using Siri, I find it best to keep the language simple and get straight to the point. For example, to set an alarm, I instruct Siri to “Wake me up at 7:30am” The convenience of having this feature and the possibilities and updates for Siri are endless!
At present, Siri is accessing maps, traffic news and business information for the United States only but watch this space for the UK updates!
Camera
The 8MP camera and HD video recording feature is simply picture perfect! So have your cameras at the ready to capture all those unexpected moments in life. The camera is now easily accessible from the lock screen.
iOS 5 – Operating System
The iOS 5 operating system is the current version on the iPhone 4S but is also available to update on the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. All new iPad’s and iPod touches now come with iOS 5.
Key features include:
iCloud: iCloud is a fantastic feature that allows your content to be stored and updated on all your devices. Most iPhone owners are sure to have an iPad or Mac nearby so all devices can be updated automatically. iCloud enables all reminders, contacts, notes, bookmarks and calendars to stay updated on each device you choose to use. This includes all music, apps and photographs, so there is no need to sync each device separately.
iMessage: iMessage works just like text messages. Users who have the iPhone 4S or who have updated to the iOS 5 can send iMessages and multimedia messages for free via WI-FI or 3G. These will show up in blue on your device automatically, once you choose a contact that also has this iMessage feature. This is also compatible with the iPad and iPod touch.
Notification Centre: Another convenient and time saving feature! The notification centre allows users to quickly access all their current notifications from new emails to Facebook friend requests. Simply swipe down from the top of any screen to access this handy feature.
WI-FI Sync: Users can now sync their device to their Mac or PC wirelessly and still use their device even while it’s syncing.
