How To: Monitor your iPhone’s Message Character Count
Alright, so you read the previous tip and you thought, nah, I can’t be bothered downloading an Instant Messaging App and inviting all of my friends to join it, then remember to use it when connected to free Wi-Fi, blah, blah, blah…well I’ve got news for you. You’re lazy. You’re also lucky. You’re lucky because there is a way to save money on your iPhone’s messages without having to anything other than a few taps on your screen. Simply select ‘Settings’, then ‘Messages’ and scroll down to ‘Character Count’ and turn it to ‘On’.

The next time that you send a message, you will have a little counter on the side that will tell you when you go over 160 characters, which is the limit for one message. You can now edit your message to fit into one message rather than being charged for two messages unnecessarily. It may seem small, but these little things really do add up at the end of the month!
