A game of poker. Possibly one of the best ways to have fun with your clothes on. Unless it’s strip poker. Then it’s possibly one of the best ways to have fun with your clothes off. Playing online poker on your smartphone is a similar story, although your opposition wouldn’t actually know if you had your clothes on or off, it’s still jolly good fun.

Anyway, for all you online poker enthusiasts – naked or clothed – there have been some amendments for the AB9 Online Poker California to watch out for. After speaking with a variety of California’s online gambling interests, Assemblyman Mike Gatto has announced the first round of changes to his online poker legislation, AB9.

The first being, ‘No more in person sign-up’; the in person sign-up (originally created to appease small casino owners who felt threatened by the online poker industry) has now been made an option rather than a requirement. This may please all you online poker beginners, as The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) had initially argued, leaving your house to drive to a casino and sign-up defeats the whole purpose of offering ‘online’ poker. Instead, the assemblyman is considering requiring sites to host an annual live tournament which could result in more players making the trip out to local casinos.

Gatto is secondly considering stricter penalties for unsanctioned sites, making it a felony for those who illegally offer real-money games to players in California. He is also offering additional resources to the Attorney General to enforce the new regime. Speaking from a naked and a clothed person’s point of view, you have even more fun, when it’s safe fun. Any further amendments will appear in print after the bill is referred to its first committee for a hearing.

So keep those smartphones at the ready and watch this space for the new amendments to AB9 Online Poker California. And please put some clothes on.
