It seems this Christmas saw more new Smartphone under the tree than ever before, with a staggering combined total 7 million new activations over the course of the 25th and 24th. More details after the jump:A few things to keep in mind, first off thats the combined total of both IPhones and Android devices. As the image above shows, Android had a cool 3.7M and the IPhone round out the rest. That is almost an even split, with the Iphone pushing slightly ahead in activations for the first time for a while, to say nothing of the rather large margin of error. Another thing to remember is the Android activation numbers don’t necessarily translate to new handsets.Even baring those factors in mind, this years holiday season saw enormous gains and I only for see the smartphone market getting bigger next year.
