Just because you have a PC, it doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on all of the great Apple software out there (including iTunes, Apple Music, and Apple Pay). In fact, it’s a super easy process to set up an Apple ID (and you don’t even have to download any software). Read on for some quick and easy tips on how to create an Apple ID.
Step 1:
First, go to the Apple ID site, and click on the Create Your Apple ID button in the top right hand corner of your screen. Type in your email address (which will become your Apple ID username) and enter a strong password to prevent any security breaches. Your password must be at least eight characters, contain one number, and have at least one uppercase and lowercase letter (suggestion: use a combination of numbers, letters, and special characters to create the strongest password possible).
You’ll also have to enter some personal information, including your first and last name and your birth date. This information is necessary because Apple tailors their content to your age. Then, you’ll be asked to answer three security questions to help ensure your information is kept safe. Make sure that the answers to these questions are easy for you to remember (if not, write them down!). The last step in this section is to choose the country you’re living in.
Step 2:
You’ll have to decide whether you’d like to receive announcements from Apple about recommendations or updates, if you’d like info about special offers, and if you want Apple news updates. Select which of these you’d like to take advantage of.
Step 3:
To ensure that you’re not a robot, Apple next asks you to type in a captcha code for security purposes. Then, just click Continue.
Step 4:
Apple will then send you a confirmation email shortly after. This email will have a code that you must use within three hours of the email being sent to you (or else it will expire and you’ll have to go through the process all over again). The email will also have a link to a verification page – click on this, and then enter that code.
Step 5:
Your Apple ID is complete! Make sure to verify that all of the account information that comes up on the verification page is accurate.
Once you’ve figured out how to create an Apple ID, you can use your account if you do have Apple products (like an iPhone or iPad). With your account, you an also buy movies, songs, and apps at the iTunes store, use all iOS devices, and access special features like FaceTime and Find My iPhone. So, just follow these simple steps, and you’ll be able to create a new Apple ID in no time!
