Ever since I got my iPhone, I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect twitter app. The app store is literally littered with twitter clients, so I thought for sure I’d find the perfect one in no time. But after trying out just about all of them, I discovered that there is no perfect twitter app, because even though some of them are pretty darn good, no one twitter app had all the features I was looking for. But if I had to pick the one that’s closest, I’d pick Osfoora. Why? Well, besides having an amazing UI, it is the most feature rich client that I’ve come by. There are other apps that I like, TweetDeck and Tweetlogix come to mind, but Osfoora is my favorite. Here are five features that will convince you:
1) Amazing Home Screen
With most iPhone twitter apps, your timeline is the home screen. It’s the main part of the app- which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. With Osfoora, they added this beautifully designed home screen with big, easy to click on icons. Other apps have tried imitating this, but none come even close to Osfoora.
2) Numbers On Tweets
Surprisingly, there are many twitter apps that don’t have this feature, and I for one am shocked, because it makes twitter a heck of a lot more manageable. On each of the three main columns (Home, Mentions, and Messages) there is a number corresponding to the number of new tweets you have. This is a killer feature, because when I wake up in the morning, I’d rather not have to count how many people have tweeted me. And for people that have thousands of followers, I can’t imagine them using an app without this.
3) Old And New Retweet Supported
As you all know, twitter added they’re own retweet option, dubbed the ‘new retweet’. Many people still prefer using the old retweet, myself included. So normally, I’d repost the tweet and add a RT with the persons name to the beginning. But with Osfoora, that’s no longer necessary, because both the old and new retweet options are built right in. Just click on the retweet button, and you’ll see what I mean.
4) Option To Tweet Songs
This is something I’ve seen in very few twitter apps, the option to tweet a song that you’re playing. When I’m listening to a song I like, I’d like to be able to tweet it to see if any of my followers enjoy that song too. It’s a great way to start a conversation, and even pick up some music loving followers. Now when I’m listening to music via the music app, I can easily share it with my twitter buddies.
5) Contacts Page
I’m not even sure if there are any other twitter apps that have this, but man I’m glad Osfoora does. Contacts, which is accessible from the home page, is a complete list of all your following/followers, and looks very similar to the iPhone contacts app. Clicking on a contact will bring you to his or her twitter profile. Not a game changer, but nonetheless a welcome feature.
If you haven’t tried Osfoora out already, I highly suggest you do so. This app, as a whole, will change the way you experience twitter. It may be three bucks, but trust me, it’s worth every penny. Even if you’re not a hardcore twitter user, this app will bring you nothing but joy. If you only buy one app this month, make it Osfoora, you won’t regret it.
