What’s on your bucket list? Traveling the US coast to coast? Taking a boat tour down the Panama Canal? Ziplining in the mountains of Peru? Whatever it is, there’s an old school of thought (or actually, it could be a new-age school of thought) that suggests that you’ll focus on these ambitions better if you write them down. It’s kind of implied in the title; a bucket list is meant to physically exist. But who writes things down in this day and age? Certainly not I. And I’m willing to bet not you. So what are we to do with our bucket lists in 2015? Well, luckily for you, there’s brand new app available for iOS and very soon, for Android. BUCKiTDREAM is a place to write down your dreams, check in and be inspired by other people’s dreams, and generally feel excited for the future.

BUCKiTDREAM is essentially a social network, taking its cues from Facebook and Instagram. It reads and navigates like Facebook, and even allows you to log in with your account (though it won’t post to your wall or any of that nonsense). But it’s optimised for smartphones like Instagram is, and it reads easy-breezy; it’s not the place for political diatribes or self-aggrandising that plagues Facebook these days.

No, in fact BUCKiTDREAM is quite the opposite. It’s main goal seems to be inspiration and positivity, and I’m no mind reader, but it seems to come from a very genuine place on behalf of the developers, who are based out of California. The way it works is, you post a dream to your wall, and others can interact with it, the usual ‘like’, comment, etc. You can choose to follow certain users and check out their own dreams, and hopefully be inspired to create some new goals of your own. In fact, the ‘like’ button here takes the name ‘inspired’; so it’s evident that the main thrust of this app is to encourage you to think bigger.

Yes, it’s got a long road ahead of it and yes, as it expands, it’s bound to be met with some cynical derision from those who troll the internet searching for some long lost sense of self worth. But this app is not for them, and it was never intended to be. It’s not a naive app, but it has one clear focus; a bright future. Even in the constrictive terms of a personal goal, this is gratifying to encounter. The world is a dark place at the moment, a darkness amplified by the immediacy and moral starkness of our current social media. BUCKiTDREAM is a fantastic balm to this resounding gloom and doom, and as Mr. Cohen says, you’ve gotta have a crack in everything; it’s how the light gets in.

Zipline on down to the App Store and get inspired for free today!
