A proverb can be inspirational, intelligent and witty. My girlfriend once said, “You can’t put a square pig in a round hole”. I assumed what happened there was she cleverly combined, “You can’t put a square peg in a round hole” and “Happy as a pig in, erm, mud”. It turns out she actually thought she had the correct quote, but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.
I’ve now introduced her to a brilliant new app which will mix two proverbs together for her to create a perverb. Enter, Big Gag. The Big Gag Generator is a live perverb generator. An anti-proverb or a perverb is the transformation of a standard proverb for humorous effect. Once you get your head round the concept, they are seriously fun to create.
Once you’ve created a keeper, such as “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” and “A dog is a man’s best friend” making “A dog keeps the doctor away” you can share with your friends through Facebook, Twitter and via email. Enjoy the unlimited number of humorous sentences generated from randomly connected parts of about 1000 famous proverbs and quotes!

Make the sentences look great by changing the font on screen and if you fancy hearing the voices out loud, simply tap to hear the sentences read in a pleasant voice. There is also a ‘thought of the day’ setting which sends you daily push notifications. This could be a get up and go motivational quote for the gym or an amusing perverb you’ve created to give a chuckle at some point in the day!
