Whether you know your Rembrandt from your Van Gogh or not, this app is a great way to bring the beauty of art into your life. I’ve been using this app for a while now and I have learned so much. I’ve always enjoyed great works of art but have been a bit of an ignoramus. Now I feel so much more confident that I actually know some of the famous artists and can recognise their works!
Art allows you to peruse thousands of works of art by – at the time of writing – 204 different artists. The pictures are fantastic quality – you can zoom in and really get a great view. Just tap if you want to learn facts and dates about the artist, view a bio or read a Wikipedia article
As you browse around the art gallery on your phone, you’ll no doubt find pictures that you find really special – and these can be saved into your own My Gallery section for easy future viewing. My favourite feature, though, is the “Who is the Artist?” quiz function. It’s a brilliant way to learn and you can even challenge other players or post your results on Facebook or Twitter.
For parents wishing to use this application as an educational tool for their kids, there is a useful parental control feature. This allows you to hide pictures with anything inappropriate for children, such as nudity.
This app that I installed http://itunes.apple.com/app/art-music/id385106767?mt=8
is way cooled, more engaging and moving. “Art” app is boring. I had a full paid version and removed it. It was a toy for 10 minutes.
This “Ar & Music” is a real treasure, the concept is great and the execution is vivid. I guess it is problem to find a great app in a pile of junk apps that overwhelm itunes store.
