Whether you’re a seasoned festival-goer or a Glastonbury virgin, everyone needs a helping hand now and then – and never more so than when you find yourself stranded in the middle of a busy campsite in what feels like 3 feet of water. Come on, you know it’s inevitable.

Have you forgotten where your tent is? Lost your friends – or just need some new ones? There’s an app for that. In fact, there’s an app for a lot of things you just might find yourself in need of.

1.    Find yourself

It’s easy to get lost at festivals and sometimes it can be nigh on impossible to track down your friends – or even your bed for the night! You might think that having mobile phones would make this less of a problem, but your mates are unlikely to hear you calling if they’re head banging to Metallica at Glastonbury this year. Find my Friends allows you to locate your friends via their smartphones using GPS. And, for those who find themselves really lost, TentFinder lets you pinpoint your tent and other locations like the car or the toilets.

2.    Join the dots

This might seem like an odd choice. But, as anyone who’s queued for a porta-loo first thing in morning will know, you can end up with some serious time on your hands! Wile away the queue, and distract yourself from the impending horror of the festival toilet, with Two Dots – the latest addictive puzzle game topping the app charts.

3.    Preserve your memories

This one might not be for the hardcore festival hippy, but those of us who dare to look in the mirror might find ourselves greeted with a slight shock after 4 days of partying, little sleep and not a shower in sight. Use this quirky new Shuttersong app to add a softening sepia glow to your photos, and then bring them to life by adding live recordings of music at the event. Shuttersong is the first free app that lets you add up to 15 seconds of recorded sound or music from your music library to your digital pictures. Plus, the app creates single, shareable JPEG files so they’re quick and easy to send to your friends at home. Not that you’d want to make them jealous or anything.

4.    Keep the party going

All these apps can help make festival life a bit easier, but you’re not going to be having any fun if you’re simply getting no sleep. Drown out the late-night revellers (or the early morning risers) with White Noise. Deemed a miracle worker at helping you drift off, its ambient sounds are perfect for helping you relax and refresh before it all begins again tomorrow. And of course, all this app-ing is bound to wreak havoc on your battery life. Battery Doctor helps you manage your device’s battery life and can almost double it if used properly.

5.    Stay Connected

Last, but by no means least, make sure you stay up to date with the latest festival news, both while you’re there and before you go. Tweetbot lets you add customizable timelines so you can set up individual ones for each festival. Perfect for staying on top of the latest weather forecasts, artist news and general gossip from the events.
