Mind Strength iPad App Review

It’s probably quite a surprise to find a game that actually claims to improve your mind power than to rot it away. I guess it was only a matter of time before a game would make such boasts! However, unlike every other similar title out there I’ve tried before I could believe this is the case!

Not like the games which test your general knowledge like Who Wants to be a Millionaire or Release The Cannibal, you are tasked with trying to memorise a sequence of numbers between 3 and 300 long and then do your best in inputting these in the correct order.
The mind is a very powerful tool and it’s nice to see something that actually gives it something to chew on rather than solve puzzles or spotting the difference. What I liked about this is there’s no time limit so you don’t have anything other than recalling the numbers you’ve committed to memory correctly.

What I didn’t like about the game is the interface was a little basic. For example, you have a small place to tap to enter the number and then a keypad appears with tiny ‘previous’ or ‘next’ tabs on it to work your way through the sequenced order. It’s quite a challenge to input these if you have sausage fingers and if you’re fiddling your way through the order, it could put you off having to go back and make even one correction – which could mean you lose your train in thought and make more mistakes as a result.

Overall this game does certainly provide a challenge and offers you a way to improve your mental abilities. It’s a shame that it doesn’t test other parts of your memory like visual, auditory or logic but it could really help you improve numeracy and recollection.

Positives

  • Challenging
  • Offers up to 300 numbers to recall
  • Gives you clear results at the end of the test

Negatives

  • A little basic
  • Doesn’t test and improve other mental powers (and I don’t mean telekinesis)
  • A little cumbersome to use
