Guitar Jack

All musicians have to start somewhere; even Jimi Hendrix probably fluffed a few chords when he first picked up a guitar. With GuitarJack you can document your progression as you learn to master your chosen instrument, as well as creating home recordings that you can take into the studio or actually just edit on your iPhone or iPad.

The GuitarJack is a new product from Sonoma Wire Works that allows guitarists to plug their instrument directly into their iPhone, iPod or iPad, via the help of this handy little gadget. The actual product is fairly attractive within itself, with a sleek polished metal design that houses two input ports (one ¼ inch instrument input and another 1/8 inch stereo output for headphones) and a 1/8 inch stereo mic/line output.

The GuitarJack syncs with quite a few apps (GuitarTone, TaylorEQ, StudioTrack), but my favourite is FourTrack, a really useful app for any musician who wants to edit and master tracks on the go. The sound that the recording process produces is absolutely fantastic when you consider that it is essentially a small jack and an iPhone that is the size of your palm (however, it should be noted that this product is designed for iPhone 4 and 4S…sorry 3G users!).

What I love about this product is that you can plug anything with an instrument cable into the jack and it will record onto your iPhone; so, if you hook your favorite distortion pedal, a bass, microphone, even an electronic or microphone recorded set of drums to the GuitarJack, you can record a quality demo from the comfort of your bedroom.
