Reckless Racing 2 iPhone App Review

Those looking for a spot of reckless racing action will want to check this gem of a game out.

The racing genre is crammed with titles which range from awesome to, well, down right rubbish; Reckless Racing 2 falls neatly into the awesome category.

It’s the usual set up – career, arcade, single event and multiplayer modes. And there’s the usual garage featuring a variety of cars to unlock and modify too. All this will be very familiar to avid racing game fans, but it is all executed extremely well. The menu interface is clear, colourful and easy to use – just what you need for creating the ultimate car.

Different races require different types of cars, so the game is not just about building up your stats and getting them higher and higher, it is also about acquiring a number of different vehicles to be able to enter specific races. This adds another element to the game, giving the player more goals to work towards.

The ‘Reckless’ part of the game comes from the actual races, featuring lots of skidding, ramming into other cars, and ultimately struggling to keep your vehicle on the track.

Each race is action packed and the graphics look absolutely fantastic on the New iPad’s retina display. The ability to switch between a number of different steering modes is a great addition, allowing gamers to find the perfect control system for them – its not always easy/comfortable to tilt and rotate an iPad, but might be the ideal choice for someone playing the game on their iPhone.

Pros:

  • Bright and colourful graphics
  • Plenty of content
  • Handy control adjustments

Cons:

  • It’s not the most original gameplay, but is executed very well
