If you’re anything like me, the idea of spending your free time researching car insurance will not exactly fill you with joie de vivre; however, with MoneySupermarket’s new app you can let it do the hard work whilst you spend your time on more creative pursuits (I suggest finally completing Angry Birds with a perfect score on every level).

MS Car Insurance covers all aspects of car insurance, from renewing your annual insurance to comparing offers from various companies; the fact that you can manage all of this from your iPad or iPhone means that you turn a traditionally hassle-heavy chore into a relatively painless procedure that only takes a couple of minutes.

Be careful where you pinch your pennies; you don’t know what’s coming around the corner…literally!

The app itself is incredibly easy to use and very intuitive; just click around the Home Screen and follow the tabs that you want to use. By entering your details on your phone or tablet you get a series of quotes from insurers throughout the UK, with the cheapest deal at the top of the list; this is great for those of you who want the bare basics as well as those who want to shell out a little more for extra cover (just scroll down the iPhone’s screen for more extensive deals!) Get your payment plan broken down into single payments or monthly instalments.

My favourite feature on the app is ‘click to call’, which allows you to contact insurers directly after getting a quote to make sure that you can get the price that you want. You can also save your application form so that you can leave and come back to it when you have the time (I can never make it through an insurance form without a coffee break!)

As MoneySupermarket is the UK’s premier price comparison site, it offers some pretty impressive statistics, stating that, “On average, people who compare and buy their car insurance save an average of £379.33 with MoneySupermarket (exc Legal) Motor Insurance.” Think of all of the Angry Birds in app purchases that you could buy with that…

Summary

I’m a sucker for anything that MoneySupermarket puts out there and I wasn’t disappointed with this. The app is simple, easy to use and really can save you a fair wedge of cash…two thumbs up from the iPAC team.

Pros

Very intuitive and easy to follow…I like this sort of app.
It takes so much hassle out of the procedure of getting car insurance, from haggling with phone salesmen to filling out reams and reams of paperwork.
The key to MoneySupermarket’s success is that it offers tangible and realistic ways for regular people to save money…this app is no exception.
