Jasmine Youtube Client iPhone App Review

Those users who have already upgraded their iOS to the 6th version should have noticed that the YouTube application disappeared from the home screen. Two days before the release of a new operating system Google presented an official video hosting client which may be downloaded here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/youtube/id544007664.

The YouTube mobile client was available for iPhone, iPod and iPad since the first iDevice release back in 2007. This year YouTube license has expired and Apple has decided not to prolong it. That’s why instead of the pre-installed client, now a separate YouTube client is available for download by Google. But unfortunately, this client lacks some really useful functions, such as iPad support and has limited capabilities of translating the videos via Apple TV. Apart from that, this app is not adapted for iPhone 5.

But now you can find a new app in the App Store which may be a decent alternative to the official YouTube client. This application is called Jasmine and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. In addition to that, the app can be launched in a full-screen mode with 1136×640 dimensions.

Jasmine’s user interface is made in a simple style and is easy to use. The app allows you to look for the videos on the most popular video hosting, play videos from your subscriptions, leave comments and see the comments from other users. According to Jasmine developers, the app has built-in spam protection and it fully supports AirPlay technology.

And the most pleasant thing about this app is that it has the function of remembering the position that you stopped at when last watching the video, a very useful feature for movies and long programs. Also, the program can play audio content and YouTube playlists in the background mode. You may turn on a “night” mode in case you need to watch videos under dim light.

Jasmine application is free and available in App Store via this link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/
