Break the Egg iPhone App Review
How do you like your eggs?

I’ve never been a great cook, but I can handle the odd omelette. Cracking virtual eggs, however, is a whole different story.

The aim of Break The Egg is, as you would expect, to break the egg on each level. You are presented with a structure of bricks and a trusty egg-breaking ball. As you click on a brick it will disappear, causing the structure to weaken. If you can get your ball to fall or bounce into to egg, then tadaa!

However, it is not as simple as it sounds; in fact, I was surprised at just how stuck I got so early on!

With the help of the relay button, you will find yourself playing levels over and over again, figuring out the different ways the blocks and balls fall depending on which one you use.

Pros:

  • Very easy and simple controls and concept, but by no means an easy game to complete.
  • Appeals to all ages

Cons:
There are occasions where you perform exactly the same actions yet the ball falls in a slightly different way or direction. This means that you may have figured out how to complete the level already, but didn’t realise.

Break The Egg was made by a 14 year old, showing that regardless of age, resources, and money, you can compete with the big studios when it comes to creating games for the App Store. Although this game has its flaws, it shows a lot of potential, and I look forward to seeing what this young developer creates in the future.
